Google Authenticator app susceptible to malware attacks

I have been using the Google Authenticator app to connect using the 2-step verification option. With reports that Google Authenticator app is susceptible to malware attacks, is there an alternative app or safety measure to activate? The info Ive read, the exploit can take over the phone/apps & read data.. I would rather remove this app ASAP if there is other options.

You can use Microsoft Authenticator. Personally, I found it more user-friendly and easy to use. Try that and you'll see.
