Upgrade RU Server from 2.8 to 3.0

Just want to confirm that all you need to do to upgrade the RU Server version is done by just installing the new version on the existing server. We didn't see any other type of upgrade option in the software.

Hi Rodney,

Yes, just download the latest server (permalink) and run the installer.

Your existing settings and data will remain and get migrated into the new server. However, to be on the safe side you can copy the following data elsewhere as a backup before starting the update:

Copy the folders:


C:\Program Files (x86)\Remote Utilities - Server\Data
C:\Program Files (x86)\Remote Utilities - Server\Logs
C:\Program Files (x86)\Remote Utilities - Server\Stats

Also, export this registry entry into a .reg file:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Usoris\Remote Utilities\MiniInternetId

Again, this is just a precaution. Your server data must get imported seamlessly into the new installation (in fact only server program files are updated). We also recommend that you restart the server computer.
