Opening VPN to 3rd party net drops connection to relayed host

We have a number of Windows XP SP3 boxes, all running the stable RU host. Our users connect from home using the stable viewer, over the stable relay.

Some of our users when at work access a 3rd party network using a checkpoint software solution VPN, specifically check point SSL network extender service (v7.001.0000) and Check Point deployment shell (v8.000.0000). Today the first of these users to connect from home over RU, tried to enable the checkpoint VPN. When that was done, the RU connection was immediately dropped, even though the user still remained connected to the RU relay. The connection icon alternated between online and offline.

Any idea on the cause of this problem?

Issue was strickly due to VPN software, changed DNS and could not resolve the ip address of the relay. Modified the hosts file, all is good now.
