Connection speed dilemma and not related to internet speed
How do I know this? I have a remote Desk Top PC and a laptop siting side by side in the same room, where my remote connection to the laptop works just fine, whereas connecting to the Desk Top PC is just awfully slow. For example it takes fr om 30sec to 40sec for the mouse cursor to move from the screen center to the top of the screen to close a window.
I also did another check and remotely connected to this Desk Top PC using [censored] and it works just fine. So what would the issue be why RemoteUtilities doesn't do the same?
I also have a similar setup at another location I often need to access remotely. Same issue again wh ere connecting remotely to the laptop works just fine, whereas connecting to the Desk Top PC is very slow, and same issue as mentioned above.
I have even reduced the PC's monitor resolutions and tried it with the colour in Remoteutilities options set to 4 bit and 8 bit, but with only very minimal improvement with doing that.
Both these Desk Top PC's are being used for 3D Graphic modelling etc, and are of very high specs with top end GPU's and CPU's similar to a high end Gamming PC if not better. Laptop 1 mentioned above is also a high end style gaming laptop, whereas laptop 2 mentioned is stock standard business style laptop.
So can anyone please help and advise, why I have no issues to remotely connect to the laptops, yet the speed is just very slow when I connect to these PC's in the same room and how to fix this?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Thank you for your report.
I guess that both Viewer and Host below to the same local network. Do you use direct connection or Internet -ID connection?
If you use Internet-ID connection please try switching to direct connection instead.
Although if this is related, how can it be that I have no problems to connect to the laptop that works fine, yet connecting to the desktop PC is unworkably slow and with both having an Internet-ID connection?
Both these hosts have access to a router directly on optic fibber internet connection (10,000mbps) both are in the same room and both using the same internet. The only difference is one is a laptop and the other a desktop PC. Any ideas why that would be?
If this is about Full Control and/or View only mode it could be something with screen capture on that machine. For example, outdated graphics card driver.Although if this is related, how can it be that I have no problems to connect to the laptop that works fine, yet connecting to the desktop PC is unworkably slow and with both having an Internet-ID connection?
There is a simple test. Try connecting to both machines not in the Full Control mode, but in the File Transfer mode. And check how fast the remote folders open, files are transferred etc. I'm sure you won't notice any difference as compared with the laptop.
Also, you can try enabling the "Use legacy capture mode" option. It's in the Other tab of the Host settings.
Most certainly network has nothing to do with it. It's in graphics/CPU part where the issue lies. Both these hosts have access to a router directly on optic fibber internet connection (10,000mbps) both are in the same room and both using the same internet. Hi Conrad, thanks again for your suggestions and support. I have gone and done the checks as you have suggested and yes there is no lag at all in File Transfer mode nor do I see any lag while in View only mode when I connect and control the host via another remote access application like "tv" or "Aero-Admin"Conrad Sallian wrote:

I have also tried as suggested and selected "Use legacy capture mode" option, however the difference is very minimal, if even noticeable at all. I also checked the GPU and other drivers and they all seem to be up to date with latest drivers updated with Win10 updates as recent as a few months ago.
I did this comparison check by viewing and full control of the same host desk top with both RU and with AA at the same time. The live view of the host desk top is nearly the same with nearly no lag difference between the two applications. When I control files using AA there is no lag and I can see in RU there is also no lag just viewing what I am doing using AA. However when I try to control the same files using RU say to drag a folder from bottom left corner of the screen to the top right of the screen, there is a 40-50 seconds delay of the cursor going from center of the screen over to the folder to grab and drag it. This lag of the delayed cursor action viewed in AA was also the same.
So I conclude from this testing, there is somehow and issue with the data transfer of live cursor action happening between the RU's Remote controller and the Host. Again the issue is only happening with the two desktops PC's in 2 different locations, but no issues at all with it on laptops at those same locations.
Any other suggestions I could try to fix this?
I am considering to buy the STARER license, however I would really need to get this issue resolved before buy it.
40-50 seconds is still too much even for a very slow network (and yours is far from that).
I will forward this issue to our developers and ask for their advice.
