IMO, having the option to send the welcome message to a custom HTTPS URL instead of being SMTP only would be welcome. (For the paranoid various forms of HTTPS key/cert pinning would also be nice and probably not much extra effort?) Also useful since lower-end ISPs may block or interfere with SMTP traffic, particularly port 25: using 587 helps, but plain old HTTPS on port 443 would avoid that issue too.

Hello James,

Thank you for your message.

I've forwarded your feature suggestion to our developers for a review to see if it can be added to our roadmap and implemented in future updates for Remote Utilities.

Please let us know if you have other questions.

This.

We're trialling Remote Utilities right now, and I can confirm that the single most difficult part of the process is getting a customer to download the one-click installer.  Once they do that, getting their internet-id into our address book is the only thing stopping us.  Having to retrieve an email from a shared email account that can be compromised if someone decompiles the one-click installer is more than a little problematic.

If there were a more simple/automated way of getting the new hosts into our address book, it would save our technicians a lot of work, and it would also help us avoid the dangers of a potentially exposed email address on our SMTP server.  Given that our techs are sharing an address book, having it centrally stored on our RU Server, and updated automatically when someone uses the one-click installer seems an easy solution.  You could even introduce the concept of 'pending' address book entries so that our techs can move them to valid groups when they use them for the first time.

I note that the original request was made 3 years ago.  Has there been no traction on this challenge in that time?

Hello Michael,

Thank you for your message.

As an alternative to sending access code via email, you can set up automatic import of new Hosts into your synced address book via RU Server. Here’s a guide on how you can do so.
This way, each time a new Hosts connects to your RU Server, it’s automatically added to your synced address book and you can further sort it if needed.

Let us know if you have more questions.
