I can't open RU anymore. I get error.

1) I tried rebooting, but that didn't work
2) I tried uninstalling and re-installing Viewer and that didn't help
3) It was working fine on latest version of RU, but then it just stopped working.

... although Viewer was working fine on the problem PC until I tried to do a remote file transfer session. That's when it went bad, and then after that I could never even open Viewer again at all.

Hello,

Thank you for your message.

This issue might be occurring if the Viewer's configuration file or some other files were somehow damaged/corrupted (perhaps, by some antivirus/firewall software activity).
Could you please try the solutions listed on this Knowledge Base page and see if any of them help to resolve the issue?

Please let us know if the issue persists.

deleting config_4.xml did work.

BUT... now my view settings are gone.

I want it back to where there were bars on the sides if necessary so that I didn't have to use scroll bars. I want to see the whole remote pc screen all the time.

I've tried changing the view mode, but none of the options worked.
I tried checking and unchecking "constrain proportions" and that didn't work either.

What is the best combination of settings to fix this?

Thank you!!!

... or do I have to reboot my local PC every time I config the view mode? Because it seemed like no matter what settings I chose - the remote screen always looked the same - with scroll bars to see everything.

Hello,

Thank you for your message.

I'm glad to hear we were able to help and it works for you now!

I've tried changing the view mode, but none of the options worked.
I tried checking and unchecking "constrain proportions" and that didn't work either.

Could you please try setting you View mode to Stretch mode and see if this helps to resolve the issue? This can be done in the Connection Properties window -> Mode tab - this should save your settings for a specific remote Host and apply them when you connect to this Host next time.

Hope that helps.

I realized that it didn't do any good to go to 'Default connection properties' on my PC. I finally realized you have to go to the host pc and change it there.

I didn't see anything about this in the manual.

Also, if it doesn't help to change the settings on my local viewer PC, why do they even have that as an option? I tried so many changes on my pc and it never seemed to do anything.

Thanks

Hello,

Please note that the changes made in the Default Connection Properties window will be applied to the newly created connections only, i.e. to all Hosts that you add to your address book after making the changes in the Default Connection Properties window. This means that the settings in the "Default Connection Properties" window will not affect already existing Hosts in the address book.

In order to change the View mode for the already existing Host, please change it on the Mode tab in the regular Connection Properties window which can be invoked by right-clicking the Host in the address book and selecting Properties.

Hope that helps.
