Due to a too fast closed topic I have to create another with the same issue.
If possible, please combine both threads. Here the Link.
I cannot create a preconfigured MSI package while the RU host is still installed.
It's NOT enough to stop the service and leave the host installed.
I directly get notified, that I have to UNINSTALL the host to create an MSI package.
I can reproduce this behavior at ANY computer, even foreign.
OK, it's not a big deal for me.
I created a batch file, that would stop and rename the service inside the registry.
Then i configure the MSI and let create the package,
fiinally I start the same batch file, wich then reverts the previous actions in the registry.
For me it works, but that's not a valid workaround for those
who use remote utilities in an restricted AD environment.

PS.:
I cannot post screenshots with the error window.
The upload stops at 90%.
I tried JPG, PNG and TIF.

Hello David,
Thank you for your message.
You are using the offline/legacy version of the configurator, not the 'Online' option ,correct? If so, then uninstalling Host is a necessary thing, we are sorry for that. This is required because the msi-building process happens on the Viewer machine itself.
With regards to the images not loading, there was a faulty update of the site CMS system. We've fixed it now. Thanks for reporting!

Yes, correct. I use the offline variant, because I don't like to be dependent of a serversystem wich is NOT under my control.
I like to reduce these dependencies to as little as possible (bad experience, sorry).
It's the same problem novadays when I want to purchase a S/MIME certificate
for email signing and encryption.
The private key is created serverside (!!!), rather than in the local browser module,
that's a NO GO and I reject this methods at all.
The same with online signing of the MSI package.
That's not negative to you, it's ok for me, but this is only to explain my thoughts about that.
I can help me with a simple batch now, it works without any problems.
The more I think about that, the more I'm sure that this could be an issue that you easily could mitigate.
If a quiet simple and OLD BATCH can solve this problem,
then a real softwaredeveloper should be able to do it as well.
But for now, thank you for the reply and declaration. It's nothing to worry about for me.
In two weeks I will upgrade to STARTER, because I'm conviced about this tool.
Have a nice weekend.
PS.:
Is it correct, that the software has a problem in connecting with laptops with closed lid
and it can be resolved by activating legacy capture?
PPS.:
Sorry about my quiet poor english.
I learned completely at myself by using english OS and software since my childhood.

Hi David,
Hope that helps.
Of course, we understand. That's why we still offer this off fleixibility. The downside is that the file comes out unsigned but you can choose to sign it with your own certificate, of course. That's not negative to you, it's ok for me, but this is only to explain my thoughts about that.
We will take a look, thanks. If a quiet simple and OLD BATCH can solve this problem,

This depends on the state of the laptop with closed lid. If it's unavailable via network, Remote Utilities cannot connect. So it's not rather a question of a closed lid but network(adapter) availabillity. Is it correct, that the software has a problem in connecting with laptops with closed lid

Hope that helps.

My laptop remain in active state with closed lid, it simply turns off the monitor.Conrad Sallian wrote:

And I think, that's the problem.
As soon as I close the lid, the monitor will be completely disconnected from the system,
it even disappears from the device manager (I could observe this behaviour with an external monitor).
In this state there is no connection via RU possible.
Existing connections remain connected, but don't show any movements anymore.
If I activate legacy screen capture, then it works again.
It could be a good workaround, that if the RU host is running,
it periodically checks wether a display is connected or not.
If NOT, then it should activate legacy capture automatically.
Is it possible to implement such a function?
At least like RDP, wich works even on headless systems, because it simply simulates a display.

Hi David,
That’s a good idea! We will certainly consider it and add it to our wish list.
