Yes, Pauline, I have AV software installed on all of my computers but it is not interfering with RU in any way.
This is clearly a host software issue. Both host computers are reporting the same fatal error.

Could you provide the antivirus software name, please. Thanks.

Hi Pam,
AVG/Avast keep detecting the program with each new release. We have no idea why this company is ruining the work of their users/customers by blocking benign/legitimate software on their users' computers. This is weird.

AVG is not blocking anything associated with RU. There is nothing in quarantine and I have whitelisted the RU program

Hello Pam,
Modern antivirus programs may not even bother warning the user about the changes they make or files they block / delete silently.
Could you try installing the Host on a computer without AVG/Avast and see the result. I assure you that this problem won't be taking place.

Everyone, also keep an eye on your antivirus and make sure the exe file is in the exclusion list because sometimes. the AV reacts to the file by deleting it without prompting you.

My remote machine's antivirus (Windows Security) quarantined this file a few days ago. I had to use a different remote control app to get access and reinstall Host, which has fixed the issue for now.
Is this trojan a real threat or is it safe to restore the quarantined file if this happens again?
Thanks

Hello Peter,
Thank you for your message.
This is definitely not a trojan, and it’s a false positive from Windows Security. We’ve seen this happen before, and unfortunately, it’s not something we can directly control on our end.
What we can do is recommend reporting the false detection to Microsoft so they can review and fix it. You can submit the false positive report here.
In addition, we also recommend that you add your Remote Utilities installation folders to the exception list following this guide
We’ll continue doing what we can from our side, but ultimately, these reports from users help the most in getting it resolved with Microsoft and other a/v vendors.
Let us know if you have more questions.
