SMTP basic authentication not working for Hotmail / Gmail

I'm using the latest version 7.6.2 and when I try to configure the MSI Configurator to send notification, that fails due to those providers not supporting basic authentication. Anyone using this feature out there? If so, any luck with notification in the configurator?

Thank you for your message.

Have you already tried setting up the SMTP server following this instruction provided by Google?
In addition, you can use a third-party email provide such as Mailjet.

I use Smtp2Go but Mailjet looks like you get more for the free tier.
