What about VPN?

Author: Conrad Sallian. Hello Alan, Thank you for your message. You are absolutely right saying that VPN is another realm and a huge project on its own. Answering your question about security - absolutely all traffic that Remote Utilities sends and receives is TLS-secured, there are no exceptions. The type of license makes no difference in this respect....

What about VPN?

Author: Alan Welsh. I hope that you can provide a "secure VPN" at some point. Let me define what I'm trying to do as an example, (so I don't ask for the wrong terminology or implementation: I take care of a PC 100 miles away for my 96 year old mother. I just added her Roku TV to my account, but I still ...

Application (proton VPN) launches but does not display

Author: Derek Gibb. When I connect to my remote computer, I am trying to launch my Proton VPN application. I double click on it and it shows it launches on the task bar, and I can see the process running on the task manager but nothing displays on the screen. I have tried to move the app to make sure it was not off screen, but when I hover ...

Connection through VPN

... your message and sorry for the late reply. Perhaps, the issue might be caused by the Cisco software blocking the ports required for Remote Utilities to work correctly. Could you please double-check if the following ports are opened when the Cisco VPN is enabled on the remote machine (perhaps, you might need to check with the network administrator): 1. Inbound TCP port 5650 for Direct connection. 2. Outbound TCP ports 5655 or 443 for Internet-ID connection. For more information on ports used ...

As Boris has correctly mentioned, this is rather expected behavior - Direct connection can be only established if your Host and Viewer are located in the same LAN/VPN. Opening VPN to 3rd party net drops connection to relayed host

.... We have a number of Windows XP SP3 boxes, all running the stable RU host. Our users connect from home using the stable viewer, over the stable relay. Some of our users when at work access a 3rd party network using a checkpoint software solution VPN, specifically check point SSL network extender service (v7.001.0000) and Check Point deployment shell (v8.000.0000). Today the first of these users to connect from home over RU, tried to enable the checkpoint VPN. When that was done, the RU connection ...
