I looked at the "service state" setting on host, and it only gives "auto" and "manual" as options.  No "Automatic (delayed start)."  Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

I'm using 7.2.2.0.  I have had success at last!  I did not have to download the beta version.  I went back into Norton, and tried to find every way I could to allow Remote Utilities (or disallow its blocking).  Once I did that, I restarted computer, and Remote Utilities Host icon shows up in my taskbar, and even connected automatically with my remote viewer.  Thanks!

Thank you so much for hanging in there with me!  I went to the Norton exceptions folder, and added the Norton Host folders (there was no entry for server or viewer).  Restarted computer, and the blue Remote Utilities icon once again did not show up in my task bar.  I had to restart it again manually.

Yes, I turned off that setting, restarted my computer, and Remote Utilities Host still does not auto-start.  I had to "start host" manually.

I have used Remote utilities for several years, and am very satisfied.  Yesterday I upgraded my OS from Windows 8.1 to 10.  Since that update, Remote Utilities does not automatically turn on when my computer reboots.  I must go in and manually "start host" in order for the remote viewer to connect to it.  I have confirmed in "settings for host" that "auto" is chosen in "service state."  What am I missing?

Thanks, guys, for this very helpful thread.  While it's not a dealbreaker, I too struggle with the message covering up buttons on my screen.  In particular, I've had difficulty responding to Facebook PM's, because your warning sits right where I type for those.

Apparently the Host software wasn't the newest, so after downloading and installing the newest version and restarting the Host computer, both Viewers are connecting without a problem.  Solved it myself!

I had to reinstall RU Host on computer after a restore.  It generated a new Internet ID, which I have entered into the properties of my  2 Viewer computers.  Password is the same as previously.  Viewers show Host connection "online," but are unable to connect.  I have restarted Host and Viewers.  Using Windows 7 on one Viewer, Windows 8 on other Viewer and Host.  Was connecting perfectly fine until I had to restore the Host computer, which resulted in my having to reinstall RU.  (It was as though RU had never been installed on that computer.)  Thanks for any insight y'all might have!
