Feature Request: "Last Seen" column.

Just what I would hope is a reasonably simple addition to the viewer - adding a "last seen" column so I can prune old machines that can be removed safely.

Glad I can finally update my clients... but I do hope you don't intend to change your software on their demands.

Announcing every time I connect to a machine with software I use to silently manage things in the background is not a feature I have any interest in. I don't have any issue with the system tray being forced to stay shown (and that changing colour does indeed inform of a connection) but I have zero desire to deal with a dozen calls of "why does it say my computer is being controlled?". Or worse, having users be desensitised to such messages and ignoring them even if some other software makes it way on to the systems.

Reported it as a false positive, reported on the forum post as well as opening a support case and a complaint.

This is ridiculous, it’s not bitdefenders job to decide what software I install and that is exactly what they’re trying to do. No chance they’re out there deleting TV installs or whatever else yet I use RU because I was tired of undisclosed security breaches from those big players…

Have been having the same issue, even with whitelisting the app, whenever I try and upgrade the hosts.

I've submitted it as a false positive to them multiple times but still no luck. Have been having to run full updates instead.

We created a dedicated topic for the subject https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/forums/forum1/2147-free-license_-notification-near-the-system-tray-and-other-changes . There's also an announcement about some changes we'll make to this alert/banner to make it less 'harsh' for some users.

Also, the new topic was created to avoid confusion, because this one was initially devoted to a different notification banner.

Thanks.

Hi Conrad,

URL is wrong, missed an m from .com :)

David Hester,
We get it, you don’t like the notice.

Now kindly stop editing your message over and over, every time you do it notifies everybody subscribed to the thread.

Also it's been over a week and the upgrade is still being blocked, same message. I've obviously submitted it to BitDefender myself but don't you guys have a relationship with the major AV guys to prevent this stuff?

Sorry to be clear, I have C:\Program Files (x86)\Remote Utilities - Host\ as well as the specific application whitelisted on all my clients. As mentioned in my original post the "infection" was picked up in the temp folder with a random string.

This actually caused me a significant amount of work to resolve, far more clients failed than I anticipated so I had to roll out a new RU package to recover them all. Not exactly ideal.

Are you saying that this makes it possible for a bad actor to substitute his own RU Server?

I run my own RU servers and there is zero difference between them and the company hosted ones, you simply set the installer to point to your server URL instead. Making it more complicated just opens up more potential for problems.

As a commercial user, I’m a fan of anything that lowers the ease and ability for bad actors to use RU… if you’re using it for personal use the restrictions are a fair trade off for free software and if you are using it professionally then you should purchase a professional license - negates all these issues.

In one of the upcoming updates we will implement saving/exporting configurator settings to a file so that you could quickly load your previous choices.

Not to keep an old topic going but was this ever implemented?
