Stolen OneClick Installer

Hello Bart,

Thank you for your message.

Could you please clarify if I'm right in assuming that you have created a custom OneClick installer using the MSI Configurator tool and specified the email address where to receive Host access credentials on Step 3 of the configuration process and then the package was made publicly available (for example, the package was uploaded to a website where everyone could download it)?

If this is the case, then there is nothing you need to do as someone installing the Host without your consent poses no threat to your computer or network because the Host is a one-way module which can accept incoming connections, but cannot be used to connect to other remote computers.

Please let us know if you have other questions.

Hello Matthew,

Thank you for the clarification.

Unfortunately, we haven't received any emails fr om you. Could you please resend the information to support@remoteutilities.com once again?

In addition, please let me know if I'm right in assuming that the issue does not occur on the Host machines that are not domain-joined and have the same Webroot Secure Anyware antivirus software installed?
Also, if it's possible, please try completely re-installing the Host on one of the machines wh ere the issue occurred, then add the Host installation folder (C:\Program Files(x86)\Remote Utilities - Host\) to the antivirus exception list before rebooting the machine.

Another thing that might help us to isolate the issue would be if you could try installing the Host via the same msi installer on the machine with no antivirus software installed and see if the issue occurs in this case.

Looking forward to your reply.

Hello Trent,

Thank you for updating us on the issue.

Could you please let me know if the issue occurred on the same remote machine you've encountered it previously? Or was it another Agent on another machine this time?
In addition, could you please let us know what other registry keys were found in the Windows Registry Editor? Could you please export these keys and send them to support@remoteutilities.com for examination?

Looking forward to your reply.

Hello Matthew,

Thank you for your message.

Could you please clarify if there is any antivirus/firewall software installed on the Host machines where the issue occurs?
In addition, could you please provide us the following information from a few of those Host machines for examination:
1. Windows System Events Log. Here's a guide on how to export it.
2. Host settings registry key. In order to export the registry key please open the Windows Registry Editor and navigate to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Usoris\Remote Utilities Host.
Right-click on the key, select Export and save the .reg file
3. Host log files. The host log files can be found in  the C:\Program Files (x86)\Remote Utilities - Host\Logs folder.

You can send the required files to support@remoteutilities.com.

Looking forward to your reply.

Wake on Lan without direct connection

Hello Mac,

Thank you for your suggestion.

We already have a similar feature in our wishlist: it will be possible to use the Wake on LAN feature, provided that there is another Host online in the same LAN and it is online, i.e. the connection will be established through the second Host. We will implement this feature in our future updates, but, unfortunately, we cannot provide any specific ETA on it yet.

Please let us know if you have other questions.

Hello Dylan,

Thank you for your message.

Could you please clarify if I'm right in assuming that the issue occurs on both your main PC and on the Toshiba laptop when you connect to other remote Host machines? If this is the case, could you please double check if there is any software that is installed on both your main PC and the Toshiba laptop as it might help us to isolate the issue? Unfortunately, right now it's hard to determine what exactly might be causing the issue as it manifests itself only in certain conditions that are very different for every user. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Looking forward to your reply.

Hello Tom,

Thank you for your message.

Is there a way to install or run Host and automatically point to a private server?

Yes, there is a way to do this - you can pre-configure a custom Host/Agent installer, using the MSI Configurator tool. In this case, you need to specify your custom server address on Step 3 - Advanced Options of the configuration process:

You can specify your custom server address for either Standard MSI Package, One-click Installer or Agent package.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for your patience.

We wanted to notify our customers that the issue with the Free License Key Generator when the blank files were sent instead of a license key was fixed. If you had encountered the issue before, please try generating a license key once again.

Hello John,

Thank you for your message.

Could you please clarify if I’m right in assuming that you mean just any notification on the remote Host machine (i.e. notifications that are not related to RU)?

If this is the case, please try enabling the Capture aplha-blending window feature. In order to enable it, please right-click on the remote connection in the address book and select Connection properties.
In the connection properties navigate to the Additional properties section and select the Capture alpha-blending windows checkbox:

Please let me know if the issue persists.
