Haha! I wasn't sure if it was you that helped me and didn't want to credit the wrong person, but I just wanted to share how we got this problem fixed for me.

All's well that ends well )

Jimmy, this is what you need - uncheck the "Constrain proportions" check box in connection properties:

Hi Ron,

I'm ashamed :) Despite it was me who helped you back then, this time I completely forgot to mention this option and help Jimmy.

Hello Jimmy,

Thank you for the kind words!

Apart from resolution there is also the aspect ratio. Even if you use the stretch mode Remote Utilities honors the aspect ratio so that your remote screen, albeit stretched (or shrunk) still shows correct proportions without distortion.

You will not see the black bars only if the aspect ratio of your local computer is the same as the aspect ratio of the remote one, although their resolutions  may differ. If the local resolution is higher than the remote one - stretching occurs. If the remote resolution is higher than the local one, shrinking occurs.

Hope that helps.

Hello Ashley,

Unfortunately, not when the Host is on Windows 8/10. There's simply a different way the blank screen works on those systems.

As for Windows 7 and earlier, we'll see - perhaps we'll leave this feature for compatibility and not remove altogether.

Hello Ashley,

There is one problem. The new blank screen mechanism turns off the monitor itself.

Hi Ashley,

Understood. Give me some time, I'll discuss this with our developers to see if anything can be done about it.
