Checking what license (if any) a host has registered...
It's in the config_4.xml in the portable Viewer folder, on the USB or whatever you run it from. However, we'll soon start putting the license information to license.txt file as it was before.
Agent.exe won't run if Cryptolocker Prevention policies are in place
Thank you for valuable information. I'll forward this to our developers for investigation and see if we can do anything about it.
Informing remote user about my presence
Such fading out or minimization could negate the whole purpose of the notification panel - to be a constant reminder of someone being connected to the PC.
For a one-time notification the Ask User Permission is better to be used.
Hope that helps.
Auto-Update Service
You actually can. This is called Remote Install tool.Angus Scott-Fleming wrote:
It would be a Good Thing if we could update a remote's RU host from the Viewer control panel.

session logs
A full-fledged reporting system is on our roadmap. No ETA as of yet, unfortunately.Angus Scott-Fleming wrote:
It would be a Good Thing if at the VIEWER end there was an exportable log of all viewer sessions. This would be very useful for billing support events, for example, or for documenting how much remote support a given user or computer required over time.
Alt+Tab and Windows+Tab to local PC?
Thank you. I've added this as a comment to this feature request in our roadmap.Angus Scott-Fleming wrote:
Perhaps you could use Right-Alt-Tab and Left-Alt-Tab. Obviously (to us English speakers) Left==Local and Right==Remote [grin].
Why obtain free licence?
Thank you for your input.
This is what the "per remote PC" license is for.It would be a Good Thing if you offered different levels of "Small Operator" licenses for small quantities over 10 PCs. You could offer licenses at $199 for up to 20 machines, $299 for up to 40 or 50 machines, and $499 for the current no-limit license. This might get more consultants and small companies to pay for RU.
The problem is that this "reasonable" level may differ from customer to customer. There is always someone for whom the price is too high, and also someone who thinks that the price is pretty low. :)One of my clients with 19 PCs is up for a [censored] Central renewal in 6 months. It will cost them $433 as of right now. A 1-operator license for RU is $499, plus the cost of removing LMI and installing RU Host on each machine, so I can't recommend it to them even though RU is a one-time cost (except for upgrades to new versions). 19 RU hosts would cost even more ($27.95 per remote PC = $531.05) and they would still have the costs of removal and installation.
However, we will certainly consider lowering the "per remote PC" pricing and shift the "threshold" towards increasing the number of "per remote PC" licenses equivalent to 1 operator license.
Thank you for your suggestions.
Informing remote user about my presence
Yes, of course. You can do that in multiple ways:
- Enable the Ask user permission feature in the Host security settings
- On the General tab in the Host options, you can enable the Notification panel and also select other options - change tray icon view, show balloon hint and play a sound.
Just select an option/options that work for you.
