I looked at the "service state" setting on host, and it only gives "auto" and "manual" as options. No "Automatic (delayed start)." Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

You may not be in the full Services MSC.
Try clicking Windows/Start button and then just start tying the word Services. Click on the match you get. That should get you to the full system services list. We are looking for "Remote Utilities - Host" in the list. Double click and you should get the service properties dialog.
Change the "Startup Type" dropdown to "Automatic (Delayed Start)" and click OK.
If the above doesn't get you to the services list, try pressing WindowsKey+R on your keyboard to get the run dialog. Type in SERVICES.MSC in the box and run it. (You may have to check a box to run as administrator)
Hope that helps!
