In case if the user needs to click something underneath the notification banner, they will be able to change the location, i.e. the corner where the banner is displayed. In addition, it will be possible to hide the banner on the Viewer's side (i.e. it will only be displayed on the Host's side). Hopefully, both of these improvements will be available in one of the next updates.

We already have Host/Agent for Mac and Linux OSs in our roadmap - hopefully, we will be able to make it available by the end of the first half of this year as this release is currently among our top priorities.
However, please note that this is only an approximate ETA as, unfortunately, we cannot provide a more specific ETA on Host/Agent for Mac/Linux yet.

Could you please clarify if you've upgraded your Viewer to the latest version before the issue had occurred or after? If you've upgraded the Viewer after, then please try following this step-by-step guide that will help you to upgrade your Hosts remotely, so that you can continue using Remote Utilities.
If your Viewer was already upgraded before as well as your remote Hosts, please let us know.

Thank you for your message.

Please note that we will modify the connection banner, so that it can be visible on the Host's side only (i.e. not display in your Viewer) and also we'll add the ability to pick the corner in which the notification will be shown. For more information please see this page.

Unable to update hosts

Thank you for your messages.

Jonathan, please refer to this page and follow the guide on upgrading your Remote Utilities to version 7, so that you can continue using it with the free license.

Nasser, please note that our recent changes regarding Internet-ID for version 6 are only applied to free license users. Since you have a commercial license, this change does not affect you regardless of the version of Remote Utilities you use. For more information please see this page.
If you can't connect to your remote Hosts since yesterday, please make sure that your Viewer is registered with your commercial license as described here.
In case if your Viewer is registered or if the issue occurred earlier, please feel free to submit a ticket, so that we're able to help you to resolve the issue.

Simple Upgrade fails - blocked by Bitdefender

it is focused on the \windows\temp\host_upgrade file and I don't want to exclude the /temp folder - that would be very risky

Of course, we understand this. However, please note that we simply do not have control over Bitdefender mistakenly blocking and deleting the legitimate digitally-signed files of our software.
Unfortunately, in this case we can only suggest to update your Host manually by downloading the vanilla Host installer from our Download page and running it over the existing installation.
In addition, please consider submitting a False Positive report to Bitdefender as well if you haven't done so yet, as this could speed up the resolution of the issue from their side (since they will receive multiple false positive reports from their existing customers).

It appears to expire 2/14?

Yes, this license key is valid until 2/14 just in case if there are more users who still need to upgrade their installation.
However, please note that we recommend that you replace this temporary key with your new license key for version 7 which you can easily generate using this form.

Steve Monk

Just updated to version 7 from 6 and all I am seeing on the remote PC is a black screen. It used to work fine on v6.

Please try enabling the Use legacy capture mode feature in the Host Settings -> Other tab and see if this helps to resolve the issue. After enabling the feature please make sure to restart Host in order for the changes to be applied.
Please note that you can also enable the feature remotely via the Remote Settings feature - in this case Host will be restarted automatically when you apply the changes.
