Yes I have Viewer Host and RU server on my local network.

Try to create a new connection in the Viewer instead of editing the existing one. After all the direct connection by an IP address is the simplest connection method possible. If you still cannot connect, please carefully check this list https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/kb/cannot-connect-using-direct-connection/

Viewer and RU server on the same PC.

We do not recommend doing this if the Viewer is a laptop that you often take with you somewhere. The RU Server works as an intermediary and should be available by its external IP address. However, if you are with a laptop and change networks your IP address will also change.

Finally , if you are the only user and only have a couple of PCs to control, you don't even have to bother with configuring RU Server. It's an advanced option for larger setups/organizations. You can perfectly go with the default ID service or (if you control your router) you can set up direct connection through port forwarding and get the maximum performance.

Lulu,

Do you have both Viewer and Host on the same local network?

Is there any fallback mechanism when host is not able to reach local RU server, then it try to connect different (remoteutilities.com) RU server?

No, due to the program design, there is no fallback mechanism. You need to manually change the ID server setting in the Host settings if you need to.

Hello everyone,

Let me answer your questions.

Todoay, i tried many times to be connected to the opposite direction (from offfice 2 to office 1)and it was impossible, even after firewall deactivated. What might be the cause.

So long as you use ID connection, the firewall has nothing to do with it. Please, check this KB article to troubleshoot connection issues with ID.

At first, something should be clarified to my point of view. I think that changing the roles for a PC from local to remote and vice versa whenever it's required, there shouldn't be any problem. Is it so?

There are two main modules of the software - Viewer and Host, and each plays its only role. Any PC can be both a Viewer and a Host at the same time, of course. The modules do not interfere.

After that connection issues have nothing to do with RU software but only with the internet setting and security software.

If you have been successfully connecting before and all of a sudden a connection no longer works, then yes - it may have something to do with security software. For example, your antivirus software signature database may update and start detecting RU as malware. Just an example.

Viewer is reporting my PC as "offline".
When I try to login manually, viewer tries to login (It took more time as when remote PC is really offline), but after few seconds of displaing LOGON status go back to offline.

I can see my remote PC in the RU server idle connection's list.

Please, check the same KB article I referred to above. Also, make sure that your antivirus software treats the Viewer well, or better just add the Viewer installation path to the exception list in your antivirus program.

Is it problem with license? I cannot register my host using viewer because I cannot log into it

If your Host trial is over you won't be able to connect in a connection mode (like Full Control). However, you 'll be able to simply log in using the "Login" feature in the Viewer. After you log in, use the "Register remote Host" right-click menu item to transfer your license remotely.

By the way, in the version 6.1 update we'll remove "Host registration" altogether. The Host will become a free module. All license management will be done in the Viewer.

Hello,

Here is a knowledge base article that explains the possible ways to improve performance on slow connections https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/kb/slow-remote-connection-speed-performance/

However, there is no specific setting that deals with animation windows that you describe, sorry.

Hello,

Thanks for the post!

It seems like the animation is just a bit heavy to be played back fast/realtime. Try to enable "Economode" in connection Properties -> Network -> Network usage -> "Economy mode". It simplifies window management and thus slightly improves performance.

Restricted Cusor Movement on Host

Hello Lou,

Thank you for your message.

Is there some combination of settings that will allow both the remote and host cursors to function at the same time?

Is the remote cursor blocked when the local cursor is being moved? They should move and work both. In fact, both users - local and remote - compete for the same cursor.

Seeing both cursors on the local (admin) side is a different thing though. By default only the local cursor is rendered, but you can see both cursors. In order to do that, go to Connection Properties -> Cursor -> Rendering of Host's cursor - > "Always".

Please, note that moving the local cursor will move the remote cursor, but not the other way around.

Let me know if I understood you properly, or if you meant a different thing.

Thanks.

Alpha blending and Blank user screen

Hi Everyone,

Please do include this combined use.

We are going to re-write the blank screen feature anyway, so this ability will most likely be included.

I think Capture Alpha Blending should be a stardard setting auto enabled.

We'll certainly consider making this a default setting. Meanwhile, you can simply enable it in Tools -> Default Connection properties and from then on all new connections that you create in the Viewer will have this option selected.

Thanks for the info, asql. This right-click (long tap) on Android has been reported by other users as well, and we are planning to extensively test the matter very soon.

6.0.0.4 Too Many Issues

Hi Larry,

Added information to help on the keys situation. If by chance I try to hit Windows Key + Left Arrow (trying to reposition a window on the remote screen) it will not do anything except put the remote screen in a locked key status, like I am holding down a control key.

It used to be when I would start a session that the remote screen would have the focus. So, I start a session and then click the "CTRL-ALT-DEL" button for that session. I get my login screen on the remote computer, but if I do not click on that remote desktop, anything I type is not being sent to the remote computer. I have to click on the password field before I start typing.

I will note that this also seems to happen a lot when I switch between sessions. So, if I am working on session 1 and typing and working normally and then select session 2 by clicking the bar across the top of the window; I will have to then click inside of the window on the screen to start typing.

Thanks. Added to the test case.

Might this also be related to the problem I mentioned above about timing out to login screen?

It might or it might not. It depends. Only testing and analyzing the issue can tell.

Also, I just want to make sure I mention that I really like this product. For my usage, I think it is better in most comparisons to anything else out there. I appreciate all the help and work you guys are putting into this!!!

Thank you for the kind words! We'll do our best to fix the bugs as soon as possible. Your feedback is immensely helpful.

Hello Maxred,

Thank you for the kind words!

but do i need, for example dyndns, to get a remote access to a pc in an other destination.
I want to do this Access from a home pc to a pc in a other city.

No, you don't have to use it. Instead, use ID connection, just follow this tutorial, it explains how https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/docs/connecting-over-the-internet/

Hope that helps.
