Economode

Forgot to add that there is certainly a reasonable "threshold" of connection speed/quality. For example, it's hard to recommend anything if the connection method in question is EDGE or 3G on a mobile network  :) We are developers, not wizards  :D

Economode

Hi Peleus,

Yes, it can help in most cases. However, it's not the only option that can be used to speed up work on slow connections. Other options include:

- Color depth.
- CPU Usage.
- Disable aero and remove wallpaper.

You will find all these options in Connection Properties. Connection properties are individual for each remote connection, but they can be modified en masse.

Also, you can set defaults (in Viewer, select the Tools tab and click 'Default connection properties' button). In the default connection properties dialog you set the properties that every newly created connection will have from now on.

You will find more information on working with the address book and connection properties in our documentation.

Hope that helps.

Logon successfully to remote Agent, but only get black screen

if I just run Agent on PC-2(restart still not ok), I will see PC-2 usually changed status from on line and off line on PC-1 GMS windows. even when on connect between PC-2 and PC-3, it only get black screen and can't do any remote control.

Agent is for a different purpose than Host. You would want to use Agent for spontaneous, or even one-time support. You need someone sitting at the remote PC to run the Agent and tell you their ID and password. Once they close the Agent, the remote session stops.

Everything you can do with Agent you can also do with the Host, plus some features not available in Agent, such as starting as a system service.

[resolved] Slight issue in remote session

Hi Quick question, how was this resolved? Uninstalling the third party software?

It can be uninstalling, but it also can be tweaking its settings (if possible). For example, if antivirus software get into the way of how Remote Utilities works, you can add RUT installation folders as exceptions to the antivirus program.

It can be a corporate firewall which cannot be turned off by the user. The advantage of GMS is that it allows you to use a single port not blocked my most corporate firewalls, such as port 443. But you need to manually set that port in the GMS settings first, because it's not by default.

[resolved] Sound on Windows 7

Hi. Sorry to bump this but I just wanted to know if this feature is possible. And if it's a yes, how can this be done?

You need to run the Full Control and View mode. While in this mode, move your mouse pointer closer to the top edge of the Full Control screen - a toolbar will slide down. Click on the settings (the Gears icon) and enable 'Capture sound' option in the settings window.

In one of later releases we'll refine this feature. Most likely we'll make a separate "Get remote sound" connection mode.

Hi Merphy,

Try to restart the remote PC (PC-2).

Where is the Linux viewer?

nikkil wrote:
Thanks. Wine looks like open source and might be a tough one to set up. Has anyone tried to set this up yet?

Wine is no more touch to set up than Linux. It's the matter of choice though - if one uses a Linux they should be ready to do some manual labor.  :)

If I purchase an Enterprise Licence Do I get Quick Connect ?

nikkil wrote:
Hi. I checked the link. I still can't find anything written that quick connect is part of Enterprise, is it?

Technically speaking, it's part of the product itself. Agent (former Quick Connect) is a Host module that can run without installation and administrative privileges. It is registered the same way you register a Host (using either a Free or an Enterprise license key).

Help connecting to dsl modem

Feature request: Would be nice to have this may installed on a modem to get this functionality possible? Might be a huge work though.

Yes, that's an enormous amount of work and is something way different of our main specialization.  :)
