Hello,

Thank you for the details.

Could you please specify in approximately what time of the day you were attempting to configure the package using online configurator? Apparently, there was a connectivity issue between the MSI configurator tool's server and our website's server today. However, it was fixed and right now all types of supported packages can be configured without any issues.

Looking forward to your reply.

Hello,

Thank you for the provided details.

Perhaps, the registry key of the service was indeed corrupted or deleted by antivirus software for some reason. This is a common scenario when the antivirus software doesn't care much about whether their detections are right or by mistake.

However, I highly recommend that you add the Host installation folder to antivirus software exceptions list to avoid future problems in this regard.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Hello,

Thank you for your message.

Could you please try configuring the package again and let me know if the issue persists? I checked with my coworkers - the issue has been fixed and the MSI configurator tool works fine now.

Hope that helps.

Hello,

Thank you for your message.

Could you please clarify what version of Remote Utilities was used before you tried to update it to 6.10.10.0? Also, could you please clarify if there's any antivirus software running on the machines where the issue occurred?

Looking forward to your reply.

Hello Colin,

Thank you for the clarification.

Sorry for the late reply, my message seems to not to appear somehow. However, I have forwarded all the information you provided to the development team and we're currently investigating into it.
Also, it would be very helpful if you could send us your address book file. By default, the general address book file is stored in this location: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Remote Utilities Files\connections_4.xml. You can send it to support@remoteutilities.com if it's convenient for you. Of course, you will need to change the credentials afterward for security reasons.

Looking forward to your reply.

Hello Jim,

Thank you for the clarification.

I think you can consider using a One-click installer. This way, you can build an easy-to-install Host package. The output .exe file is a self-extracting Host installer with your custom settings, so your father will only need to run the file to install the Host on his computer.
Using One-click installer also lets you enable Internet-ID connection on Host and configure Host to send the Internet-ID access credentials to you via email.
Here's a related guide on MSI-configurator tool which is used to build a One-click package and might be helpful as well: https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/docs/about-msi-configurator/
And here's a guide on configuring the One-click package: https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/docs/one-click-package/

Hope that helps.

Hello.

and it says the reason,
"The reason why this change has been made is to make Remote Utilities less prone to false positive detections by antivirus software"
However i see other popular remote access software than remote utilities(ofcourse alexa rank) ex: like [censored]([censored].com) / [censored](vpn.net-free) has 'Hide tray icon' option. for example in [censored] once hidden tray icon there no way to know it running or anyone connect etc and just have to check the taskmanager process so i dont think that's such specific reason.

Yes, making Remote Utilities less prone to false positive detections by av software was one of the reasons. Another reason is to provide the legitimate use of the software, which means that Remote Utilities is used for remote administration and remote support, but not for surveillance over the remote user without the user being aware of it.
May I ask - for what task do you need this feature?

Looking forward to your reply.
