Host 'keep alive' frequency?

Hi Mike,

Are there any hosted GMS servers in the UK? (other than hosting our own, of course). If not, any plans to open other public GMS servers?

We are planning on deployment European servers very soon.

If we were to change our customers to our own GMS, can we do this remotely?

You change the mediation server address in the "Internet ID settings -> Advanced" on the Host. Yes, during a session you can remotely change the server the Host is pointing at. However, the remote customer will have to restart the Host (Stop Host then Start Host) so that the Host applies the new setting. Or you can simply reboot the remote PC, or reboot the Host service using a .bat script.

Thanks for reacting Conrad! Issue is solved. The mac adress gets filled automaticly. Leaving out the ':'  between the numbers confused me probably.

Glad to hear you figured it out! :) Don't hesitate to drop us a message or post on the forum if you ever need help.

Hello Jim,

Thank you for the report. What video settings do you mean? Have you changed FPS in the Connection Properties to a low value? That might be the very cause of the issue. Try to use the default setting.

Hello,

I'm sorry, but we do not make our roadmap public. You can also see that many of our competitors also never publish a roadmap, so it is common not to share it.

As for ETAs, they are always very approximate as it is hard to foresee all possible issues and problems that may occur along the road when implementing a feature or fixing a bug.

Hello Rene,

Are you connecting using an Internet ID or an IP address?

Ok. Rebooted my router and all PC's and made sure my custom servers were set to DNS and uncheck IPv6 and connection WORKED! I dont know what is blocking it or was blocking it. It works now.

Great! Seems like some "link in the chain" required rebooting for applying the settings.

Anyway, if you ever need help with this issue, don't hesitate to post on the forum or submit a support ticket. Thanks!

Yes. The gateway reads my Moms PC over another IP connection. So it connect the GMS under IDLE tab. Do i still use the Internet ID or direct connection..?

GMS is always about Internet ID connection. It's just a self-hosted replacement for our hosted Internet ID servers, and is entirely optional.

Direct connection by definition does not use any intermediary servers. It's a plain Viewer -> Host connection where the IP address (or DNS name) of the Host is used. Whereas an Internet ID connection always looks like this:

Viewer -> Default (our company's) intermediary server -> Host

or

Viewer -> Your self-hosted GMS -> Host

Have you changed the custom server IP address to the DNS name on both sides, i.e. Viewer and Host?

This needs to be clarified. In the Host settings a custom GMS server is a global setting. Whereas in the Viewer you need to specify it for each remote connection that you want to route via your GMS. You can, of course, mass-edit them by selecting multiple records or use Default Connection properties for newly created connections.

Yes. Nothing changes except that you now use the DNS name in the "Internet ID settings -> Advanced -> Custom server" on both sides (Viewer and Host) + the no-ip client installed on the GMS server. You only need to make sure that your DNS name resolves to your current IP address properly, but that depends on the No-ip client software.
