using Remote Utilities in healthcare operation

Hello,

Thank you for your post.

(1) How are screen images transmitted between Host and Viewer?

Encrypted regardless of what intermediary server is used, public or private. The data encryption is always on.

(2) We understand the sessions are encrypted but how much of that encrypted data is stored on RU's public server and for how long?

The transmitted data are not stored on our server. Besides, it would be completely useless because the data are encrypted at endpoints and we cannot read the data.

As for connection logs, they are stored for one year. See our Privacy Policy, the section "Information we collect when you use the Product".

(3) Anyone know of medical practices using Remote Utilities?

We cannot provide reference in public without expressed permission from customers. However, feel free to contact our Sales - they may contact the medical customers and ask them if they would give their consent to share their review or contact information.

Disconect Host

Hello,

It works with the notification panel, you are right, but if we use the notification panel, the connection status always remains active even if i´m not anymore on the Host -Desktop.
It also does not help to log out the active connection in the Viewer, the notification is still there.

This is a bug and it's been fixed in the upcoming version 6.9. The first beta is going to be published within a few days from now.

Also, in version 6.9 we will "Log off on disconnect" feature. Here "logoff" means Remote Utilities logoff, not Windows logoff. In this context "disconnect" means closing the Full control window.

Disconect Host

Hello Theodoros ,

Thank you for your post.

Stopping the Host should stop the service and any remote connection will be terminated. This is one way to achieve what you are looking for.

However, you can also enable the notification panel. That panel shows you who is being currently connected to the Host and you can click the X button beside their name to terminate the corresponding session.

Hope that helps.

Cannot find any description or example in documentation of the advance

Hello,

I responded regarding the cursor and keyboard/mouse in this thread.

As for the access violation error, here is a related documentation article https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/kb/access-violation-error-in-the-viewer/

Hope that helps.

Hello,

what is the advantage and disadvantage of having this setting to always or set to never for a rendering of host cursor? Could you give an example please.

The default setting ("View only mode") is that you only see the remote cursor when in View mode, whereas in the Full control mode you only see your local cursor. If you set rendering remote cursor to "always", you will see two cursors, local and remote. If you quickly move your cursor across the screen this might cause the remote cursor to slightly lag behind your local cursor.

In normal everyday usage of the software you don't really need to render the remote cursor. You might need to show it, however, if there is a task that requires from you to see the remote cursor.

Also cannot find any description to what advance mouse scroll does or why one would want to enable or disable?

Advance mouse scroll setting defines what happens when you bring your cursor to screen edges. In other words it allows you to scroll the screen in horizontal and vertical direction without using the scrollbars (provided that the remote screen size is bigger than your local's and no shrinking is enabled). Here is a related documentation page.

You can disable it if you'd rather use the scrollbars.

Is auto ping setting a good thing to increase or decrease?

That depends on what you are trying to achieve. The ping only works in a local network so this setting is not actually that significant unless you really need to keep an eye on your LAN computers' network status (online/turned on).

Lastly is there a way to just disable remote mouse but keep the keyboard to work on the host? So full control minus the mouse.

Unfortunately, so far you can only lock or unlock both mouse and keyboard, but not separately.

Could that setting be added via xml or config file.

The settings in the config file just mirror what is available in the interface so editing the config file won't help much. But I will add your suggestion of locking mouse and keyboard separately to our wishlist.

Thank you!

Hello Tural,

Thank you for your post.

You are trying to use the blank remote screen feature, correct? Did you enable the option of installing the monitor driver during Host installation?

Hello Kim,

Thank you for your message.

An easier way would be to use the Portable Viewer as described here.

P.S. Note that we only recommend using this "sharing via Dropbox" scenario if you are the only user. In a multi-user environment the only proper way to go would be to use automatic sync through the server.

Close To Tray

Hello Carlos,

Actually, the "minimize to tray" option in Viewer options also works for closing. If you enable that option and click X (close) in the main Viewer window the Viewer will minimize to tray.

Hello Carlos,

Adding a separate "auditing" mode/functionality is in our plans. Unfortunately, no specific ETA yet.
