New fatal error issues on install
Thank you for your message.
We could use a screenshot of the error screen as well as the portion of the system event log that might record this error event. Would it be possible to send those to support@remoteutilities.com?
Access Denied using Windows security
Here are some points to check:
1. Make sure you use the same Windows account for authorization that is allowed/added in the Host's Windows Security authorization settings (this doesn't have to be administrator account though).
2. Make sure the Windows Security check box is actually enabled in the Host settings -> Authorization.
3. Try explicitly switching to Windows Security in Viewer connection properties.
Let us know if that works for you. Thanks.
Disconnection while using adwcleaner
You mentioned "AdwCleaner" which is the name of one of Malwarebytes products https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/ . Were you referring to a different product?
Disconnection while using adwcleaner
Thank you for your message. I moved this topic to "Antivirus issues" sub-forum.
I recommend that you contact Malwarebytes, the manufacturer and report a false positive and/or ask them to white list RU. Remote Utilities is definitely not adware - not even remotely (we've never shown a single bit of advertisement for the whole history of the product). When completing the clean up process it also shuts down RU which also disconnects me.
Slow remote screen performance
Thank you for your message.
Please, check out this knowledge base article, it can help resolve the issue https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/kb/slow-remote-connection-speed-performance/Remote screen performance is slow with Host v6.10.
This means the monitor driver isn't installed. In Host Settings/Driver/Monitor Driver I see both Install, Uninstall grayed out.
The monitor driver has nothing to do with performance. In fact this driver is only used for one feature -blank remote screen. If you don't use that feature, you don't have to install the monitor driver.Might this cause the slow remote screen performance?
Hope that helps.
Remote Utilities 6.12 Beta
There was in fact one change that is also mentioned in releases notes for Remote Utilities. Here it is:FYI, I see RU Server 2.9.1.0 beta version posted, but wasn't included in the release notes page.
Added: Viewer-to-RUServer and Host-to-RUServer authorization is now TLS 1.2 based instead of RSA, which makes authorization on the server significantly faster
This is standard for many running services. You may notice the same when updating the Host, for example. Just click OK in prompt windows. Reboot may not be necessary. Also, when updating RU Server, it looks like it cannot properly close and update RU files and pops up a message that a reboot maybe (is?) necessary. Having a smoother upgrade process that doesn't require a reboot would be preferred for self hosted servers.
Service set to "auto", but won't ever auto-start on reboot
Thank you for your message.
Regarding the host service not starting, please check this KB article https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/kb/host-service-won-t-start/ .
If you simultaneously open two remote sessions they are shown in tabs, like in a web browser. If you need to close one session you should close the tab Instead of closing the entire Full Control window. That said, you can also "detach" the tabs and view the sessions in stand-alone windows. To switch to that mode disable "tabbed view" in Viewer options:Is there a way to close a window easily? If I have two PCs showing, it is much harder, since I don't know how to close one PC's session and leave the other window open.
The program attempts to reconnect anyway, there is no need to refresh the window. You can also try enabling/disabling the Pause command - it is available in the context menu when you right click on the tab header. How can I just choose to refresh a window, vs close it. Seems like, if the connection is interrupted, it is still showing but inactive, and there's no way to refresh it, without first closing that window
Hope that helps.
Remote Utilities - Host keeps installing
If the Host is being installed over and over again on your system this can only mean that there is some other agent (possibly malware) that runs this installation.
Unfortunately, we are not an antivirus software company and we cannot consult on removing viruses or malware from your computer. I recommend that you run full diagnosis of your computer using one of the top antivirus software programs (ESET, Kaspersky AV, Norton, Malwarebytes etc.).
Remote Utilities - Host keeps installing
Thank you for your message.
Our program cannot install on its own. If it is installed on your system then someone or something installs it. I recommend that you run through the complete uninstall procedure to get rid of the Host on your computer.
Hope that helps.
