can not connect to any hosts

Hi Paul,

This issue was fixed two days ago.

Your Community is your reporting service, otherwise why have it?

And it was the community that helped us learn about the issue, of course.

I used the online msi configurator to make my packages and now I get the same error. It specifically says the certificate was revoked by the issuer.

Sam,

Please, check if this is a code signing certificate from DigiCert. If yes, then it should work. If it doesn't, this could be a problem on the local machine (e.g. date incorrect or something with root certificates).

Hi Sam and Allan,

The current code signing certificates issued by DigiCert - for the vanilla version and for the custom installer - are both valid.

An older certificate used for custom installers, issued by Sectigo, was revoked by Sectigo. When we asked to explain why they did so they never answered. We decided that Sectigo can no longer be trusted as our certificate provider so we switched entirely to Digicert.

Comments in Detail View

Hi Patrick,

Do you have all your remote connections (the items in the address book) in place? That is, the address book is still populated but the comments are gone, correct?

Thanks Conrad for investigating 👍

Hi Philip,

It looks like you have version 6 and a free license key. In January we notified free license users that they should upgrade their installations to verison 7 before February 1, 2022. Then on 1 of February we provided a free upgrade key to extend the transition period for another two weeks. There is still a yellow stripe at the top of this website that notifies about the ugprade.

Here is a related discussion https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/forums/forum1/2147-free-license_-notification-near-the-system-tray-and-other-changes.

Your connection is not working because you should be on version 7.1.2 (on both sides) if you are using a free license.

Hello Philip

Could you send us the Internet-ID codes of the Hosts that cannot be connected to (one or two IDs will be enough). You can send them to support@remoteutilities.com

I'm also asking everyone else who still has issues to do the same. The issue may have to do with one of our secondary servers so we'll be examining this more closely.

Thanks.

Host Ports

Hello Deden,

Are you connecting via our public servers or the self hosted server?

I was wondering what was happening why my PC was showing offline. Figured it was a connection to RU servers as my remote PC was up and connected and could connect directly via IP.

My PC just started showing online a few mins ago and I can connect just fine now using Public servers. I'm in the Caribbean.

Thanks Conrad. Could you explain what the issue was?

Hi David,

It was a regular Sunday maintenance but something went wrong. Our engineers managed to pinpoint the root cause and patch it before Monday.

Mine has just come online again this minute, as in, I can connect using internet to remote hosts. However the ping still times out. Am in New Zealand.

Hi Glen,

We disabled the ping for now. But the servers operate normally.

The servers are back online. Please, test your connections.

Thanks!
