Thank you both for the comments. We'll try to use that information when reproducing the issue.

[resolved] Backing Up Viewer Settings

Hello David

As the description states, how can I backup or export the settings for the Viewer? Is it possible to save my settings from the installed version of the Viewer and use them with the portable version?

There are two xml files in the "C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Remote Utilities Files\ : config_4.xml and connections_4.xml .The first one contains the Viewer optons/settings, the second file is the address book. So you can copy both and drop them into the portable Viewer folder, alongside the rutview.exe.

This brings me to another question - are there any feature limitations or anything else that might inhibit full functionality on the portable version of the Viewer compared to the installed version?

Nothing I know of. The portable Viewer should run exactly as the installable version does.

I've seen this as well. I can't pin it down to a number of tabs open but this can happen every 5-10 connections. I can usually capture after 2 or 3 attempts or closing all viewer tabs and starting a fresh viewer window.

This is one of those few mysterious bugs that evade from us. It's hard to reproduce it here because it's obviously context-specific and only appears when some combination of factors takes place.

We would really appreciate it if you could reproduce it 100% of the time and tell us what actions invoke this issue. BTW, what antivirus software/firewall is installed on the remote and local PCs?

Hi David,

Thanks! I've added your comment to the "Computer info panel" feature request on our roadmap. If we have any questions or need further clarification, I will get back to you then.

Blank/Locked Screen

The resolution of the remote computer is lower than the local computer, and the remote screen is set to Stretch.

Hello David,

Just tried to reproduce this issue by connecting from a PC with a high-resolution monitor to two PCs with low-resolution monitors (one Windows 7 and one Windows 8.1) and trying different screen view modes (normal, stretch etc.). The remote screen is always pure white without scroll bars.

I was testing with default "blank remote screen" settings though, i.e. I didn't use the editor to add html, text etc.

Group Inheritance

Hello David,

Added to wish list. Thanks.

External Tools Improvement

David,

In the Remote Execute mode there's a pop down list populated with previous records. Will it work for you?

As for a separate button/menu, we'll add this suggestion to our wish list.

Blank/Locked Screen

First I would like to quickly introduce myself a new user of Remote Utilities! I purchased a single operator license 2 days ago and already have over 60 hosts deployed! So far, this is the *best* product and does precisely what I need it to.

Nice to meet you :) And thanks for the kind words!

It would be great if the blank screen or lock screen displayed on the console monitor had the option of no scroll bars and stretched edge to edge. In the current implementation there is a small (1 or 2 pixel) border around the lock screen as well as a scroll bar on the right side even when they aren't needed.

Is the resolution of the remote pc screen higher or lower than that of the local pc screen?

Viewer - Details View Columns

David,

We are planning to add a "Computer information" panel in the Viewer anyway. That panel will display all vital information about the remote computer right away when the computer is selected in the address book, without having to launch the inventory connection mode.

By the way, besides the Windows version/edition what other important information would you like to see on that panel?

Default Connection Settings Improvement

Hello David,

Thank you. We'll consider this suggestion and I will get back to you with an answer.
